"The Master Programme Food Quality and Safety at University Bayreuth, Campus Kulmbach, offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical applications, preparing students like myself for successful careers in the ever-evolving field of food quality management. One of the most remarkable aspects of this programme is the caliber of faculty members who are experts in their respective fields. Their guidance and mentorship have been invaluable in shaping my understanding of food quality and safety principles. Their passion for teaching and commitment to student success are truly inspiring. The programme's emphasis on hands-on experience through laboratory work, internships, and research projects has provided me with practical skills that are directly applicable to real-world scenarios. "I initially studied Food Science in Nigeria, during which I completed an internship and thesis. After graduation, I had a short industrial working experience. I believe this laid the foundation for my MSc journey. My interest in Food Quality and Safety stemmed from its interdisciplinary nature and the quality of education in Bayreuth. I was among the first student cohort, this of course brought uncertainties, but the programme unfolded amazingly. The balance between lectures and practical applications was excellent. Furthermore, a mandatory internship and thesis implied at least one year of working experience for me. Finally, upon graduation, there would be possibilities for an academic-oriented career (Ph.D.) or a position in the industry. Mine for now would however lead me to the industry sector. It's also worth mentioning that the programme is continuously reviewed and improved, a great advantage! Thank you! Tip: A sync between the passion for quality foods and the German language guarantees success."

"During my bachelor's degree in Bioanalysis at Coburg University, I took a course on food technology that inspired me to pursue a career in food science. I chose the Food Quality and Safety programme because of the interdisciplinary and international orientation. Through my studies, I have been able to gain a holistic understanding of the science, industry and policies surrounding food. The laboratory courses were particularly interesting and a perfect opportunity to explore applied food science. Food quality as a complex and versatile topic is my main interest, which is why I would like to work in food quality management in the future."

student testimonial Rachael

I obtained a BSc degree in Science Laboratory Technology from the University of Benin. My undergraduate thesis in Plant Toxicology sparked an interest in Food Science and research. I chose the Master of Food Quality and Safety programme at the University of Bayreuth because of the programme's comprehensive course structure. Personally, the laboratory practicals have been the highlight, offering invaluable hands-on experience that brings theories to life and reinforces core life science principles. They have significantly boosted my confidence as a scientist. Post-graduation, I wish to pursue a career as a food quality analyst, utilising the invaluable knowledge and skills acquired during my time at the University of Bayreuth."

student testimonial Solomon

"As a graduate of the Master of Food Quality and Safety programme, my journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology in Uganda where I first picked inspiration in food sciences from courses in Environmental and Food Microbiology. Thereafter, I embarked on a career in clinical biochemistry, where I gained firsthand insight into the critical link between nutrition and human health. The interdisciplinary perspective offered by the master’s programme has equipped me to address the complex factors influencing the nutritional quality, safety and sustainability of our food systems."
